For those of you who don’t know, gastric bypass surgeries have been designed to treat morbid obesity and correct the health issues that might arise from this. The surgery also known as a Duodenal Switch or DS Gastric Bypass comprises both the restrictive and malabsorptive aspect. As a result of these surgeries, patients reduce their intake of fat by almost 80%.
In these procedures, the creation of a moderately sized stomach pouch and the bypassing of the small intestine are combined to allow the patient to lose weight without significantly altering eating habits by the biliopancreatic diversions type of gastric bypass surgery. This affects the stomach in such a way that it is able to hold approximately five to six ounces of food whereas other common procedures enable it to hold one half to one ounce.
However, not all surgical procedures are successful, and the patient must get gastric bypass revisions. The advantages where patients opt for this procedure are:
- 1. Not losing enough weight.
- 2. Regaining weight.
- 3. Medical complication resulting from gastric bypass surgery.
A distal bypass is a series of procedures that create a small pouch leaving the rest of the stomach in place while bypassing the duodenum and a part of the jejunum, and is also called Roux-en-Y. The difference between this type of surgery and the proximal gastric bypass has to do with the length of the roux limb that is connected to the stomach pouch from the small intestine.

An estimated ninety percent of people suffering from diabetes have type 2 diabetes. The pancreas of type 2 diabetics produce insulin, but, either the insulin production is insufficient, or their bodies cannot use the insulin properly. Type 2 diabetics can vastly improve their chances of avoiding the more serious effects of the disease by instituting a major lifestyle change.
Although diabetes is a complicated disease, there are four simple changes a person can make to improve the odds. First of all, sugar must be eliminated from the diet. There is no way to have your cake and eat it, too, so get rid of the cake. Be wary of sugar-free items. They are void of food value, so partake sparingly. Your body needs carbohydrates to keep your blood sugar regulated, but make them count.
Next eliminate anything white from your diet. This includes rice, pasta, potatoes, white bread, and, if you are from the South, grits. This is simple to remember and will produce dramatic results in your blood sugar levels, as well as your weight.
Always count carbohydrates. This cannot be stressed enough. A total carbohydrate intake of around one hundred and sixty-five per day, including snacks, is a starting point. Then, adjust according to individual needs. Read labels, and remember that getting the most nutrient value possible from your food is extremely important to a person suffering from type 2 diabetes.
Lastly, add exercise to your life. It is an important tool in taking control of your diabetes.

Ever thought off drinking filtered water? Hold your horses! Before you do, you’d better make sure that the water had undergone enough filtration to get rid of all contaminants. The last thing you want is getting sick after drinking contaminated water. Do not trust just any ordinary filtration system. Filters are only good for certain duration until the filtering material has had enough. In that case, filtration will cease and contaminated water will flow right through. That’s where a high-quality filtration system is needed to keep water flowing safely without any contaminants.
Meanwhile, filtered water alone cannot ensure your health. What’s even better is ionized water. Also known as alkaline water, it helps maintain good health by having certain anti-aging properties. The ions in the water help to rehydrate the body, thus improving weight loss efforts and relieving aches and pains in the body. It has even been reported to have certain benefits to fight against cancer. When you think about it, it’s very ideal to sterilize kitchen and food utensils, cookware, and for use in cooking as well.
The reason why ionized water is beneficial is because of the process that occurs inside water ionizers. H20 water molecules are clustered into smaller units, thus making it easier for cells in the body to absorb them and rehydrate. Second most important aspect is because of its alkaline content. It easily neutralizes acidic waste in the body, leading to better health. Medical research has found alkaline water to indeed have a positive effect in terms of battling the onset of cancer.
