Loosing weight can come with great rewards from becoming healthy to the possibility of getting rid of a medical history that haunts most obese patients. With the lap band system the patient will be able to obtain the help that is needed to lose the weight.

The lap band system has been one of the most successful weight loss surgeries, thriving on it’s minimally invasive reversible nature. The lap band operation has a quick recovery time, and the patient can return to limited normal activities within 4-5 days after surgery.

After surgery the lap band doctor will set up your follow up appointments to make sure the incisions are healing properly and to make sure that the patients’ body is adapting to a foreign object around the stomach. Also the lap band doctor will discuss any post operative care, to minimize incision infection and ensure healthy rates of weight loss.

In most cases the lap band system can be covered by private PPO insurance. If the insurance doesn’t cover the lap band, there are other resources to pay for the procedure. Patients can pay in cash and most lap band facilities offer financing services. With healthnet lap band surgery can also be covered. However there may be several requirements in order to approve surgery, depending on plan guidelines and patient health.

While most women spend all month not looking forward to their period, some women suffer from a condition called Menorrhagia, which results in elongated and heavy periods. This can be especially troubling if the extra periods are accompanied by the normal symptoms and the abnormal bleeding can interfere with a healthy sex life. There are several treatment options to help alleviate the bleed from excess periods, including several hormonal treatments. However, the most effective is to remove some of the uterine walls which will scar up and reduce bleeding.

Besides heavy periods, many women also suffer from a reduced sex life due to them feeling self-conscious about the appearance of their labia, or small inner lips. These can sometimes be perceived as too large. A way to lessen the size and appearance of the small inner lips is labia reduction surgery. These different types of procedures can be done quite painlessly with a laser to reduce the size or uneven shape of the labia, making the vagina appear more visually pleasing. Besides the labia, there are also several other laser corrective surgeries to help repair the appearance of a vagina.

Another common vaginal problem that many women experience is bladder prolapse. This is the herniation of the bladder through the wall of the vagina and is often induced by urinary incontinence that often accompanies child birth. Conditions such as this one can often be solved by a TOT sling, which is a mesh of tape positioned in the uterus to help support the herniated area.

Despite the obvious developments in medicine these days, there are still some diseases that are not curable. Some of them have been undergoing research leaving the medical community frustrated without a plan as to how to deal with these diseases, especially cancer.

And then came a breakthrough since it was only a few years ago when DIM was discovered by UC Berkeley scientists who extracted it from the Brassica family of vegetables.

natural broccoli

Why scientists and researchers the world over have taken such a strong interest in this compound is due to its unique (and direct) anti-cancer properties apart from its ability to boost the immune system by consuming as a supplement.

Some of the vegetables that you find Diindolylmethane in are kale, broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower but you have to eat a large amount of these vegetables in order to enjoy the anti-cancer benefits that it offers.

As a Cancer prevention diet, it has found much success as it has been found to reduce the chances of breast and prostate cancer by almost 40 to 60 percent.

Alternatively, it is also being used in a slew of clinical trials to validate whether this compound is the cure for not only cancer but also for a variety of bacterial and viral diseases. In regards to cancer, it is being used along with Taxol (the current medication for cancer patients) to see if the effectiveness of the treatment increases or not. And it is not just for one type of cancer but for this dreaded disease in all its forms that it is being tested for by the National Cancer Institute as well.

Whether or not, these clinical trials prove to be successful is anyone’s guess but the preliminary results give patients around the world hope in finding a cure for cancer.
