Exercise and Gender

In this day and age, it seems almost silly to have different programs in a fitness boot camp for girls or boys. We have become so accustomed to arguments for equality of the sexes that some people might automatically want to scream about discrimination.  However, the truth is that there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to a fitness vacation or boot camp training regime. Not only is every individual unique with their own physiology and their own goals, men and woman tend to have somewhat different goals when it comes to losing weight.

The majority of men who attend weight loss summer camps are interested in building muscle mass as well as shedding pounds. Arms, shoulders, and legs tend to be the areas where they want to increase muscle, which means targeted weight training.

Women, on the other hand, tend to focus more on losing weight alongside the toning of specific areas. Flexibility and core strength are also important areas of focus. In order to make this sort of change, full body training is recommended, along with function strength training and circuit training.

When it comes to choosing a workout routine, you should be less concerned about what other people are doing and focus more on what works best for you. After all, your neighbor’s workout won’t necessarily help you meet your goals.
